Amherst Japanese Language School is a school in Western Massachusetts for all children who want to learn Japanese. We have a small class system, and we provide education that values ​​each individual.

Every Saturday morning, kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and JSL (Japanese as a Second Language) students study Japanese at our school in South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA. In 2023, only some classes will be held online.

We also focus on events so that children can experience Japanese culture and events. In addition to studying textbooks, we place importance on creating an environment where students can enjoy learning Japanese in a lively manner, and create opportunities for them to become interested in Japanese culture and traditions. 

We are always looking for kindergarteners and students to study with us. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you would like to visit the school, experience admission, or experience admission.

Free Trial in February 2025

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a free trial class exclusively in February 2025. This program is designed for families considering Japanese language education for their children or grandchildren but would like to first experience our school’s atmosphere and determine if continuing is a good fit for their needs.

  • Dates: Saturdays in February 2025 (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd)
  • Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM for Preschool class)
  • Eligibility: Children who have a Japanese-speaking environment at home and are interested in learning Japanese (ages 3–15)
  • Location: South Hadley, MA 01075 (The specific address will be provided via email to participants)
  • Cost: Free of charge
  • Description: Experience our current classes to understand our learning environment and curriculum. (Currently there is a waitlist for JSL class)
